Send your first subscription for review

Apple reviews your first subscription together with your app. Here is the 2-minute step on App Store Connect: Bloxks does the rest.

Apple requires your first subscription to be reviewed together with its subscription group and a new version of your app, all in the same draft submission. Apple lets no tool add that first subscription for you: it is a 2-minute step on App Store Connect, needed only once. Your next subscriptions go out on their own.

Who does what:

You put the subscription group and your subscriptions in one draft (steps 1 to 4).
Bloxks adds the app version to that draft and sends everything to review.

Before you start

Your subscriptions and their group are created by Bloxks. In App Store Connect they show Prepare for Submission: that is normal.
You need the Account Holder, Admin or App Manager role.

Step 1: open your subscription group

Open App Store Connect, then your app, then Monetization → Subscriptions, and click your group (Bloxks names it Bloxks Subscriptions).

Step 2: add the group for review

Click Add for Review at the top right. If Apple offers an existing draft, pick it; otherwise choose Create New Submission.

Step 3: open your subscription

In the Subscriptions list below, click your subscription. If your paywall has several (monthly, yearly…), you will do step 4 for each one.

Step 4: add it to the same draft

Click Add for Review, then pick Draft Submissions: it is the group’s draft. Never Create New Submission: the group and the subscription would go separately and Apple refuses them.

Done: everything shows Ready for Review

The group and every subscription now show Ready for Review. That is all for you.

If you open the draft, Apple says an app version is missing: that is expected, do not add one and do not submit anything. Bloxks adds the version as soon as your app file is processed by Apple and sends everything to review:

your publication is still running: nothing to do, it goes out at the end;
your publication has ended: publish again from Bloxks.

Everything then moves to Waiting for Review. You will receive Apple’s answer by email, usually within 24 to 48 hours.

Good to know

A subscription stuck in Missing Metadata cannot be added: reopen the Paywall tab in Bloxks and publish again, Bloxks fills in what is missing.
Also check that the Paid Apps agreement is active (Business in App Store Connect): without it, Apple’s reviewer sees an empty paywall.
