What is xAI (Grok)?

xAI makes the Grok models. Not to be confused with Groq, a different company. Plug your xAI API key into Bloxks and your app can chat, read photos, search the web live and create images with Grok.

What it unlocks in Bloxks

• Chat and vision: a coach or assistant that answers questions and reads photos (meals, labels, receipts).
• Live web and X search: answers about current events, with source links.
• Image generation: visuals created from a text description.
• Structured data: Grok can return exact fields your app stores directly.

Get your API key

1. Go to console.x.ai and sign in (or create an account).
2. Open Billing and add prepaid credits: the API doesn’t answer without them.
3. Open API Keys, click Create API key, name it and copy it (it starts with xai-…).

Connect it to Bloxks

1. In Bloxks, open Connections, pick xAI (Grok), then click Add connection.
2. Paste your key and validate.
3. Ask for your feature in the chat: "add a news assistant that answers with sources". Bloxks wires Grok into your app.

Good to know

• Your key is stored encrypted and never exposed in your app’s code.
• xAI is prepaid: when your credits run out, your app shows a clear message asking you to top up.
• Each live web search costs a little extra on top of the answer.
